A remarkable number of vaccinations and pills are required for a year's journey... at least to where we're going. Here, Elizabeth got very, um, thorough about cutting up the Imodium to fit more neatly in our packs.
In all, our packs each weigh around 30 pounds, which shouldn't be too unmanageable.

Back to SF to fill boxes and prepare to move out for a year.
Boxing up everything but the travel guides (in high style)
We somehow got a truck and trailer onto our tiny street, packed up, and departed the Mission for Claremont.
Marty's dad generously helped us move all our stuff in this nifty trailer

Visiting with Liz and Jim Fuller, Marty's grandparents
'Feathered Edge' at the MOCA/Pacific Design Center
Then we headed up to Mammoth for a week of hiking and camping before setting off for Hawai'i and then to India.
Heading north on 395 with the massive Mt. Williamson in the rearview
Hiking from Agnew Meadows to Thousand Island Lake
At Thousand Island Lake; Marty's hat is almost as big as Mount Ritter
