Some views of Leh

It has taken us a few days to fully acclamitize to the altitude of Leh and get our bearings. We've taken it easy, wandering willow-lined paths, seeking out the best cup of apricot juice, the freshest steamed momos, and many variations on Buddist iconography.

This is one of the four kings that corresponds with the four cardinal directions surrounding Mt. Meru, the center of the buddhist universe

A really well preserved fresco

Odd, winged discus goddess (?)

Proof positive that animism and humor can coexist

A buddha statue at the Shanti stupa above our guesthouse in Changspa. This stupa is relatively new having been built by a Japanese sect in the 1980s

  1. Haha. Those are some awesome pics. It looks quite lovely over there. Dry. Maybe I would rather be there than here, where allergies kept me from going outside for 48 hours. I managed to cross campus today, but had to retreat indoors after that. It is a sad state of affairs.
