We got back today from three days of camping and were alarmed to overhear something about a huge -- 8.8 -- earthquake in Chile. Not until I checked my email did I find out that this earthquake here in South America also posed a threat to Hawai´i, some 7,000 miles away. I´m hoping that the tsunami warnings are only warnings and no destruction occurs.
In the meantime, we´re fine, very far from the earthquake ourselves, so don´t worry on our account.

I did...sorry. I should have looked a map and compared Chile to California. Still I was also worried because I assumed the tsunami might have been of concern to the southern coast. Anyway, glad you're well! And so relieved that Hawai'i is as well.
ReplyDeleteWell, considering Cy's comment, I'm almost afraid to say that mom & dad were Not too worried. First thing I did was check out a map - to see that you guys were pretty damn far away from the epicenter. And I figured that no buildings were going to fall on you - though if you'd been closer I'd have been more worried about big rocks, avalanches, etc. Anyway, I sure was glad to hear from you, and that we did not have any real cause to worry about each other.
