The threat is real

Turns out guanacos aren't always vegetarian.

They smile and bat their eyelashes.

But watch out.

Oh sure, it looks innocuous enough -- but that guanaco is eating Marty's HAIR!

He barely escaped.

Of course, in spite of this near-baldness experience, he still wants to take one home. I'm half-convinced because their proportions would fit a Victorian nicely.

PS - One interesting thing about guanacos -- their feet are closer to paws than hooves, with pads like dogs. They only have two pads. This is much better for the fragile desert ground here than the cows and sheep later unleashed on the pampas. Plus it's cute.

PPS - Their noses are about the softest things we've ever felt. The better to lure you in with.

  5. I think we need some of them in Hawai'i! But oh my, - they'd probably make trouble, like goats.
And maybe Marty is lucky about the ear ...

Is it their noses that are soft - or their lips?
(I know, sounds weird, but you've got to be precise about these things.)

  6. OK, to be precise, I guess it´s their upper lips. Like horses, but way softer. They eat flowers, after all. And drink dew.
Krista, you definitely need two, one for Omar to ride and one for Chester.
