Working lives in India

When I travel I'm always looking for the chance to get a glimpse into the livelihoods of ordinary people in the places I visit. Below is a small sample of some of the people we've met and seen over the past month here in India.

Young monks at a monastery

A Kashmiri textile merchant in the New Town section of Srinagar

Performers in a local production of the Ramayana in Manali

A water delivery man in Leh

A copper smith in Chiling, Ladakh

Giant parantha makers in Srinagar

A vegetable merchant outside a mosque
