Yesterday was Easter and, while looking through some old National Geographic magazines, we came across this image:
I promise this image has not been doctored!
It was part of a larger profile on Venezuelan culture and, evidently, good Catholics can eat capybara during Lent as it is semi-aquatic(!)
Seems fishy to us too.

Noooooooooooo!!
ReplyDeleteThe original vorpel rabbit. Puts Monty P. to shame, eh?
I don't have any commentary, really, except to say that I love capybaras, and this picture gives me the giggles.
ReplyDeleteSeems like an entirely appropriate response to me.
ReplyDeleteThe Catholics sure have some entertaining ideas. Capybaras as fish?
ReplyDeleteOMG - Rob HATES capybaras (=giant rodents). He also hates snakes. One day we watched a Discovery show where an anaconda ate a capybara. Rob was horresmerized. I think he was hoping the snake would choke...
ReplyDeleteHorresmerized, I love it.
ReplyDeleteI have to say, the unexpected presence of a "y" in their name makes me far less intimidated. Perhaps because they could be nicknamed cybaras...Ugh...makes me think of robot rodents...back to being intimidated. :(
ReplyDeleteThey're certainly ROUS's.
