Despite the blazing sun on Tonle Sap Lake we found tremendous comfort in the sunken forest that surrounds the stilt village of Kampong Phluk. Here, we left behind the noise of our diesel long-tail boat and joined a woman on her smaller, more agile craft. If you listen carefully you'll note a sample of the bird sounds in the trees. Very special indeed.
Ever-hopeful water cat seeks fresh fish
Wow, it's like the bayou or something. And that cat? That cat would get along with my cats. They would take over the universe, driving through the streets in a stolen car, robbing liquor stores.
ReplyDeleteHow are the bugs there? Are youg getting eaten alive? Are you constantly dousing yourself with chemicals to avoid West Nile?
We loved that cat's pose -- an arm slung over the step like the feline James Dean. They'd be a bunch of hooligans, you're right.
ReplyDeleteBugs haven't been a problem, really. Some mosquitos at night in most places but nothing terrible. Sometimes we use bug repellent if we think of it, sometimes not.
